welcome to t, let me show a short video to you.
the first team i will talk about is houston this team, there are two map is t-mac,the other one is yao e are bonzi wells, steve francis, mike james, shane battier and rafer alston also.i think it’s powerful enough.
some experts even claim that they could win 60 in fact, they have lost 7 games.i think maybe they can’t win the games as many as the experts said, but they must be a strong power in the western this season if the stars specially tracy and yao could keep health.
the second team is dallas season, they won more than 60 games, but they were washed out in the this team became the second team which won 60 or more games but lost the champion.
this season, most of the players there are in their golden age and i think they own the ability to create everything what even out of everyone’s expectation.
In the picture we can see that a man is fishing attentively by the lake.Behind him there is a scholar who is stealing the fish in the man’s bucket. It is obvious that the drawer of the picture tries to reveal a serious problemin the academic circle of our country — plagiarism. In recent years academiccheats have become rampant. Quite a lot of graduate students and scholars“use” others’ ideas, articles and papers without acknowledging the sourceof information. They copy them without the fear that they might be caught. For a long time we paid less attention to the problem of plagiarism, butnow we are increasingly aware of its negative effects. Plagiarists’misconduct simply mean “stealing” others’ intellectual and academicaccomplishments, which not only depreciates their own humanity but contaminatesthe climate of the academic circle. Academic falsification is like an epidemicdisease that spreads fast and will destroy the healthy development of academicstudies. What’s worse, these plagiarists have set a very disreputable exampleto the younger generation.
So what attitude should we hold towards it? From my point of view, weshould resolutely battle against this ill phenomenon. Education of moralityshould be strengthened among the scholars and students. Those who steal others’academic achievements should be given severe punishment whenever they arespotted. If necessary, we can resort to the law to protect the interest of theoriginal writer and inventor. We must recognize that fighting againstplagiarism requires our persistent efforts.
Good evening:
This is the 37th time I have spoken to you from this office, where so many decisions have been made that shape the history of this nation. Each time I have done so to discuss with you some matter that I believe affected the national interest. In all the decisions I have made in my public life I have always tried to do what was best for the nation.
Throughout the long and difficult period of Watergate, I have felt it was my duty to persevere -- to make every possible effort to complete the term of office to which you elected me. In the past few days, however, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the Congress to justify continuing that effort. As long as there was such a base, I felt strongly that it was necessary to see the constitutional process through to its conclusion;
that to do otherwise would be unfaithful to the spirit of that deliberately difficult process, and a dangerously destabilizing precedent for the future. But with the disappearance of that base, I now believe that the constitutional purpose has been served. And there is no longer a need for the process to be prolonged.I would have preferred to carry through to the finish whatever the personal agony it would have involved, and my family unanimously urged me to do so.
But the interests of the nation must always come before any personal considerations. From the discussions I have had with Congressional and other leaders I have concluded that because of the Watergate matter I might not have the support of the Congress that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the duties of this office in the way the interests of the nation will require.I have never been a leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body.
But as President, I must put the interests of America ica needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad. To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress in a period when our entire focus should be on the great issues of peace abroad and prosperity without inflation at home.
Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon President Ford will be sworn in as President at that hour in this I recall the high hopes for America with which we began this second term, I feel a great sadness that I will not be here in this office working on your behalf to achieve those hopes in the next two and a half years. But in turning over direction of the Government to Vice President Ford I know, as I told the nation when I nominated him for that office ten months ago, that the leadership of America would be in good passing this office to the Vice President, I also do so with the profound sense of the weight of responsibility that will fall on his shoulders tomorrow, and therefore of the understanding, the patience, the cooperation he will need from all Americans. As he assumes that responsibility he will deserve the help and the support of all of us.
As we look to the future, the first essential is to begin healing the wounds of this nation. To put the bitterness and divisions of the recent past behind us and to rediscover those shared ideals that lie at the heart of our strength and unity as a great and as a free taking this action, I hope that I will have hastened the start of that process of healing which is so desperately needed in America. I regret deeply any injuries that may have been done in the course of the events that led to this decision.
I would say only that if some of my judgments were wrong -- and some were wrong -- they were made in what I believed at the time to be the best interests of the those who have stood with me during these past difficult months, to my family, my friends, the many others who joined in supporting my cause because they believed it was right, I will be eternally grateful for your support. And to those who have not felt able to give me your support, let me say I leave with no bitterness toward those who have opposed me, because all of us in the final analysis have been concerned with the good of the country, however our judgments might differ.
So let us all now join together in affirming that common commitment and in helping our new President succeed for the benefit of all Americans. I shall leave this office with regret at not completing my term but with gratitude for the privilege of serving as your President for the past five and a half years. These years have been a momentous time in the history of our nation and the world. They have been a time of achievement in which we can all be proud, achievements that represent the shared efforts of the administration, the Congress and the people. But the challenges ahead are equally great.
And they, too, will require the support and the efforts of the Congress and the people, working in cooperation with the new have ended America's longest war. But in the work of securing a lasting peace in the world, the goals ahead are even more far-reaching and more difficult. We must complete a structure of peace, so that it will be said of this generation -- our generation of Americans -- by the people of all nations, not only that we ended one war but that we prevented future wars.
We have unlocked the doors that for a quarter of a century stood between the United States and the People's Republic of China. We must now insure that the one-quarter of the world's people who live in the People's Republic of China will be and remain, not our enemies, but our the Middle East, 100 million people in the Arab countries, many of whom have considered us their enemy for nearly 20 years, now look on us as their friends.
We must continue to build on that friendship so that peace can settle at last over the Middle East and so that the cradle of civilization will not become its grave. Together with the Soviet Union we have made the crucial breakthroughs that have begun the process of limiting nuclear arms. But, we must set as our goal, not just limiting, but reducing and finally destroying these terrible weapons, so that they cannot destroy civilization. And so that the threat of nuclear war will no longer hang over the world and the people.
We have opened a new relation with the Soviet Union. We must continue to develop and expand that new relationship, so that the two strongest nations of the world will live together in cooperation rather than nd the world -- in Asia, in Africa, in Latin America, in the Middle East -- there are millions of people who live in terrible poverty, even starvation. We must keep as our goal turning away from production for war and expanding production for peace so that people everywhere on this earth can at last look forward, in their children's time, if not in our own time, to having the necessities for a decent life.
Good afternoon, everybody. I just want to say a few words about the landmark vote that the House of Representatives is poised to(随时准备着) take today -- a vote that can bring us one step closer to making real the promise of quality, affordable(支付得起) health care for the American people.
For the better part of a year now, members of the House and the Senate have been working diligently(勤奋地) and constructively to craft legislation that will benefit millions of American families and millions of American businesses who urgently need it. For the first time ever, they've passed bills through every single committee responsible for reform. They've brought us closer than we have ever been to passing health insurance reform on behalf of the American people.
Now is the time to finish the job. The bill that the House has produced will provide stability and security for Americans who have insurance; quality, affordable options for those who don't; and lower costs for American families and American businesses. And as I've insisted from the beginning, it is a bill that is fully paid for and will actually reduce our long-term federal deficit(赤字,不足).
This bill is change that the American people urgently need. Don't just take my word for it. Consider the national groups who've come out in support of this bill on behalf of their members: The Consumers Union supports it because it will create -- and I quote -- "a more secure, affordable health care system for the American people."
The American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association support it on behalf of doctors and nurses and medical professionals who know firsthand what's broken in our current system, and who see what happens when their patients can't get the care they need because of insurance industry bureaucracies(官僚政治).
The National Farmers Union supports this bill because it will control costs for farmers and ranchers(牧场主), and address the unique challenges rural Americans face when it comes to receiving quality care.
And the AARP supports it because it will achieve the goal for which the AARP has been fighting for decades -- reducing the cost of health care, expanding coverage for America's seniors, and strengthening Medicare for the long haul.
Now, no bill can ever contain everything that everybody wants, or please every constituency(选区) and every district. That's an impossible task. But what is possible, what's in our grasp right now is the chance to prevent a future where every day 14,000 Americans continue to lose their health insurance, and every year 18,000 Americans die because they don't have it; a future where crushing costs keep small businesses from succeeding and big businesses from competing in the global economy; a future where countless dreams are deferred or scaled back because of a broken system we could have fixed when we had the chance.
What we can do right now is choose a better future and pass a bill that brings us to the very cusp(尖头,尖端) of building what so many generations of Americans have sought to build -- a better health care system for this country.
Millions of Americans are watching right now. Their families and their businesses are counting on us. After all, this is why they sent us here, to finally confront the challenges that Washington had been putting off for decades -- to make their lives better, to leave this country stronger than we found it.
I just came from the Hill where I talked to the members of Congress there, and I reminded them that opportunities like this come around maybe once in a generation. Most public servants pass through their entire careers without a chance to make as important a difference in the lives of their constituents and the life of this country. This is their moment, this is our moment, to live up to the trust that the American people have placed in us -- even when it's hard; especially when it's hard. This is our moment to deliver.
I urge members of Congress to rise to this moment. Answer the call of history, and vote yes for health insurance reform for America.

I enter tile university after years of hard study and preparation(准备)。 But life in the university is not as satisfactory(满意) as what I had expected. I become lazy and don't want to study.I become silcent. I become puzzled. I don't know what I can do in the future. Then I become unhappy.
Four years in the university is only a short period when compared my whole lifetime. Now it has passed a half. In this year, many people ,such as my parents,my friends, ask me what I want to do and tell me to map out a plan for my life. I don't want to follow their suggestion, and I want to go my style. So I think carefully. I have been a young volunteer(志愿者) for five years. It's very happy and significant. Then I have a dream.I want to join the University Student Volunteers Go West Programe. I think I can be a teacher in the west.I want to try my best to help them and help me. I want to see the world cearly. Now I can't reach its demand and it's very diffcult, but I will work hard in the next two years. There is an old saying"where there is a will, there is a way.(有志者事竟成)"I think my dream can come in the university I mature, and in the university I prepare for the real world.
At last,I want to say to everybody"Hlod fast to your dreams,no matter how big or small they are.The path to dreams may not be smooth(平滑) and wide, even some sacrifices(牺牲) are needed. But hold on to the end,you can find there is no geater happiness than making your dream come ture."
My fellow and my friends;
Once I read a piece of news report. It says, "A middle school student in aremote mountainous area was doing his revision at home one day. His brother, whose age excelled school age, was playing and drawing on the paper with hiselder brother's pencil at his side. Suddenly the younger brother raised his headthoughtfully, his little eyes were winking, and said to his brother seriously,"When will it thirty-second, brother?" The elder brother looked at his innocentyounger brother and said with a smile, "What are you going to do on thatthirty-second?" "Papa promised me to send me to school," said his youngerbrother. His brother, the middle school student looked at his lovely brother andhis heart seemed to be stitched with needles. My God! My parents were workingday and night in order to be able to afford my schooling. They were exhausted. How could they afford my younger brother's schooling? Oh, thirty-second ...
My dear friends, hearing this, didn't you feel sorry for them? We share thesame native land, the same blue sky under the sun. Why cannot they be givenlesson at school, sitting in the bright and big classroom? We are used to sayingthat education goes first before vitalizing the country. But now the country'sfiscal solvency and material resources are not ample enough. What should we do?It requires that we should be of one heart and exert our efforts for ourmotherland.
,

Sometimes it takes things falling apart, for better things to fall into place. Sometimes it takes the most uncomfortable path, to lead your life to the most beautiful place. There's gonna be bad days, there's gonna be dark days, but you've gotta embrace it.
Because that pain is what makes you stronger. Failure is what makes you stronger. You have to accept those down times, because once you realize those down times, are just as much part of life as anything else, you're able to strive again. You'll never see the purpose of the storm, until you see the growth it produced. You'll never understand why you went through what you went through, until you see the strength, the power, the resilience that it built inside of you. Ask yourself why.

good morning ladies and gentlemen, today, i would like to introduce my beloved hometown—inner mongolia to all of you. it has been 57 years since the birth of the inner mongolia autonomous region on may 1st, 1947. dominated by the mongolian nationality, the inner mongolia autonomous region is located on the northern frontier of china. the inner mongolia autonomous region occupies an area of 1.18 million square kilometers and has a population of about 20 million people who represent a score of different nationalities. every time when people talk about inner mongolia, they’ll come down to the vast grassland. yes, the inner mongolian prairie area makes up a quarter of the total grassland area of the country. on the boundless expanse of the inner mongolian prairie are living numerous sheep, cattle and horses, on which our mongolian have lived for generations. that is why the grassland is eulogized as “cradle of life”。 there are two vast grasslands in my hometown—hulun buir grasslands and xilin gol grasslands which are both world-famous regions. people in inner mongolia are famous for their bravery, enthusiasm and hospitality. no mater where you are from, as long as you come to a herdsman’s house, you will be warmly entertained with roasted whole lamb and milk tea, and what’s more, you can also appreciate beautiful mongolian songs and elegant dances. it is not exaggerating to say mongolians are born singers and dancers. the moment you set your feet on the grassland areas you will discover it is indeed a real land of songs and dances.
today’s inner mongolia still maintains her ethnic characteristics and at the dame time, she tries to keep pace with the development of the modern world. ordus is a worldwide well-known brand, yili and mengniu are both the famous dairy industries, which have greatly improved the living standard of our mongolian people. and i’m sure, our mongolian people will make great effort to contribute to our hometown. as a college student, i know quite clearly that my mission is to master solid knowledge and one day do good to my beloved hometown.

Our country develops fast and our space make great progress in the last several decades. It has great achievements. All of our country are proud of it. Therefore, I want to be one of this amazing area.
In order to make mydream come true, I must work hard now. So that I can go to a good university to learn more knowledge. I hope my dreamcan come true one day.
I wanna welcome everybody here in this cheer team.
thank you for coming here this morning to stand on my side cheering me on.
it’s my dream to have the opportunity to challenge all the foreign athletes to the championship at this great occasion: 20XX olympic games.
now, the dream came true.
as an athlete of china, i’m here to win the gold medal of orienteering for our motherland.
I’m so proud of being one of the best players in the world.
but could you believe i had been a lazy girl when i was in junior high.
i’m not kidding! at that time, running was my last favorite.
i really don’t know how to describe the first time i was on the track.
it was horrible.
when i started to run, i was simply out of breath.
and while i touched the finishing line, i really didn’t know if i was still alive.
it’s so funny, huh? but it’s true, i did.
Well, something happened and changed the situation.
we won the right of holding the olympic games in 2015.
after that, sports became a kind of game in campus.
and there are many sports clubs in school.
one day someone asked me:“are you gonna try one of those?”first i felt so wired.
“Try to get into sports clubs? are you kidding?” i said.
and she goes: “why not? it’s not hard at all, and so fascinating!” so i did tried one and i was so lucky to become one of those who did orienteering.
that is a fantastic sport! you need to run and find where to go just by using a map and a compass.
it’s wasn’t popular in china at first.
but when we heard it might become a new event in 2015, we did practiced hard, and aimed to win the first champion of orienteering in the world.
when we practiced, there were a lot of troubles.
you know, sometimes you need to go with your feet, but sometimes you need to go with your heart.
in some situations, we faced the difficulties and problems.
and we need to solve that through teamwork and strong willpower.
so we can run faster, go higher and be stronger.
that is what we say—olympic spirit.
Now the dream came true.
i’m standing here with all my body and my heart put in sports.
so do the people from all over the world to here at the olympic games.
it’s the olympic games that make us together.
we are here for a big day of sport; we are here for a dream of sports.
we are here for a spirit of sport that encourages us to face the difficulties of today and tomorrow.
Hello, everyone! My name is cheng xiang yan , I am a junior student comefrom life science institution .Today, I am very glad to stand here and sharewith you my most sincere speech‘Flying youth, master our future!
Life is a process of growing up. Saying goodbye to childhood, we step intoanother important time of life in the pace of young, facing new situations, dealing with different problems.....
However, who can really say what the youth is ? A period of time? Abelief? An attitude to life? Or anything else? actually, everyone has hisownunderstanding of young, it is a period of time of beauty and wonders, onlyafter you have experienced the sour , sweet ,bitter and salty, can you reallybecome a person of significance.
Just like A famous poet said ‘ youth is a lovely song ,where nothing isimpossible ,youth is a meaningful book, youll be never bored of it ;youth is arapid river ,it keeps on flowing day and night ;youth is a cup of tea ,it showsyou different kinds of tastes in your life.
As youth is so precious, of course, we must treasure it .Dont let thelimited time pass by, grasping the young will means a better time is waiting foryou in the near future.
So,Its necessary for us to prepare ourselves well for the future to come.having a view on those great men in the history of hunman being, they all madefull use of their youth time to do things that are useful to society, to thewhole mankind, and as a consequence ,they are remembered by later generations, admired by everyone. so do something in the time of young, although you may notget achievements as these greatmen did ,though not for the whole world, just foryoueself, for those around! So, what should we do when we are young? Here,Illpoint out some tips to help equip ourselves.
First of all, think of what youd like to be some day. A teacher ? A doctor? A writer? Dont afraid of dreaming of big and great .Since you are young , youcan dream of doing anything and becoming anyone in the future. Whats more ,never ignore the power of knowledge. Read more books and travel around. For onething, it can increase your knowledge, for another, itll broaden yourhorizon.
Last but not the least , stick to your dream. It easier said than done. After all, future is not all roses. young is just like blooming flowers, theyare so beautiful when blooming, which make people feel happy, but with timepassing by, after they withers ,most people think they are ugly. and so it isthe same with young, we are enthusiastic when we are young, then we may lose ourpassion when getting older and older. So we should have enough courage anddetermination to overcome all the difficulties in struggling on the road.
I firmly believe one sentence that‘If you think you can, of course youcan!Just believe we can make it! Keep on walking towards our dream. Flyingyouth , master our future. From today, from now on , are you Ready ? Thats all.Thank you so much for your attention !
The distinguished school principals,teachers,dear classmates:
How do you do! I am in class five 6 huang, the title of my speech today is "the book is the key that opens the door to knowledge".
Shakespeare once said,"life without books, like the earth without sunlight; wisdom without books,is just like a bird without wings." Influenced by mom and dad, since I was young,I had got into the habit of reading newspaper.I first thing in the end of each day,be quickly picked up the newspaper that day.

good morning, dear teacher and my friends.
it’s a very intresting topic today.
i think my dad was a hero for me when i was a young child. we'd go fishing, walks, and other fun things for a kid.
every child has a good and great father, and so do i. my dad played a very important role in my daily life`````exactly speaking, in my past 16 years.
my father always stands in the center of my life, from past till now and possibly in the future.
my family was rather poor when i was in my childhood. we didn't have our own house and had to live in a shabby, small room rented from my father's factory. the room was so small that there was little space for people to walk. i didn't have my own bed and had to sleep with my parents. this is terrible both for my parents and me.
but father made this all different!he works very hard on his own business, now we have our own 2 housese, surly,i have my own room.and he take our family so much happiness, richer and richer.
when i was little, i did everything with my dad. you could always find me sitting on his knee or walking and doing everything with him. every night he would read me a bed time story and make the voices of each character.
i learnt a lot from my daddy. i learnt to never take things to seriously and to always smile.
like many other fathers, my dad and i also has generation gap. he is not good at or even can’t work the computer. so when i sitting at the computer desk,he will say something like ‘you should pay more attention to your study’, ‘don’t waste time on the computer games’ , ‘it will be bad for your eyes’ and so on. how can i- a computer fan – reduce time on computer? so i continue studying and playing on it
years pasted, my father is over 45 now. it is time for me to look after him and i am sure i will do and we will live an even better life. and i will say,i really love you dad, cause you are the hero in my mind.
thank you so much!
Dear teachers and classmates:
Hello everyone!
Arbor Day falls on March 12th every year, and we cannot live without trees. Trees can provide us with oxygen, make houses, furniture, and even the books and paper we often use in our daily lives are made of trees. Trees can also prevent sandstorms and floods
The trees in the forest can balance the Earths carbon dioxide. Forests are the main consumers of carbon dioxide, with each hectare of forest producing 10 tons of dry matter absorbing 16 tons of carbon dioxide and releasing 12 tons of oxygen, making forests a huge oxygen reservoir. Therefore, afforestation has become the main way to mitigate the greenhouse effect.
There are many benefits to planting trees, which are of great significance. They not only protect and improve the environment, but also contribute to the progress of social production. Trees can block wind and sand, preserve soil and water, and protect crops. Trees can also directly supply us with wood and forest by-products. Although China has a vast territory and abundant resources, it has a large population. Long term deforestation and deforestation have resulted in a significantly lower forest cover up rate than the world average of 30%.
The resulting soil erosion and flood disasters cause huge economic losses to the country and people every year. Think about the catastrophic floods that occurred in the Yangtze and Nenjiang River basins in 1998, causing many families to be displaced and unable to return home. All of this is the bitter fruit of peoples lack of attention to ecological protection. It is the punishment of nature for human indiscriminate logging.
Planting trees is very important. We should plant more trees and cut them down less. Because trees have many benefits for humans, we should cherish them.

Good morning,everyone:
My name isxxx, a student fromxxxcollege. I am glad to give you a speech about my university. The title of my speech is My college, my home.
Last September I left my hometown with heavy baggage and after a journey of ten hours, I came to this dream campus with great expectation and excitement.
I was deeply attracted by the elegant environment of our campus the moment I stepped into the university. Straight, wide roads enjoyed the shade and shelter provided by lordly, green trees. Ancient buildings of great refinement enjoyed the company of flocks of birds flying and singing overhead. Scrolls of warm welcome greeted me and volunteers with smiles came to my help. My heart was filled with warmth. Yeah, this is the place where I will spend 4 years and this place will be my home!
Whenever I recall the past days, so many thoughts are flooding in my mind. But what impressed me most is a night when I got a stomachache during the first days. I had to turn to the aunts in charge of our dormitory for help. They were so friendly and warm-hearted. They gave me the pills and reminded me of having more hot water. I recovered soon and I thanked them from the bottom of my heart because they brought me the warmth of home.
Our university is a famous academic center. The teaching staff are all learned professors. Many of them are world-wide known for their wide range of knowledge and charming personality. I respect my teachers! I admire my teachers! I love my teachers! Various activities are carried here. They not only bring me happiness but also improve myself. I meet with a lot of classmates and make a large number of friends. When I feel upset, the will give me a hand; when I am happy, I will share with them. The library has a large collection of books and I always lose myself in it. I believe they will benefit me a lot and are to broaden the roads of my future.
I love you, xxxxUniversity! You are just a place which gives me warmth and strengths! You are my home!
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude to me is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what the other people think, say,or do.
It is more important than the appearance, the giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company,a church ,a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day, regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past.We cannot change the fact that people will act in acertain way.We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one stage we have. And that is our attitudes.
I am convinced that life is ten percent what happens to me ,and ninety percent how I react to it.And so it is with you.
We are in charge of our attitudes.
Life is unfair. Success is not measured on the days when the sun shines. Success is measured on the dark, stormy, cloudy days. If you can't absorb failure, you're never gonna meet success. The thing about life is it's not always easy, and you can't always win. Some point of your life, it hits you. It hits you really really hard. The person you love doesn't love you back, you get fired, you lose a family member. At some point of your life, you're gonna hit rock bottom. You're paralyzed, you're like, "Why?" And that why can really really destroy you. Once you start asking yourself, "Why me? Why not the others, why me? I'm actually a good person, I never did something significantly bad, why the hell did it hit me?" Because that's life. Life is unfair. Success is not measured on the days when the sun shines. Success is measured on the dark, stormy, cloudy days. And if you can't absorb failure, you're never gonna meet success.
I love English
My honorable teachers, my beloved schoolmates. Good morning everyone,
may I have your attention, please? I am glad to be able to give a lecture on this classroom. This once, I want to talk about English. My topic of conversation is that I love English.
As everyone knows, English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. If we can speak English well, we will have more chance to succeed. Because more and more people have taken notice of it, the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a high speed.
But for myself, I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it. When I learn English, I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels, I can feel the pleasure from the book which is different from reading the translation. When I speak English, I can feel the confident from my words. When I write English, I can see the beauty which is not the same as our Chinese.。.
I love English; it gives me a colorful dream. I hope I can travel around the world one day. With my good English, I can make friends with many people from different countries. I can see many places of great interests. I dream that I can go to London, because it is the birth place of English.
I also want to use my good English to introduce our great places to the English spoken people, I hope that they can love our country like us.
I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.
If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday, it will love me too.
I am sure that I will realize my dream one day! Thank you!
I was one of the only kids in college who had a reason to go to the P.O. box at the end of the day, and that was mainly because my mother has never believed in email, in Facebook, in texting or cell phones in general. And so while other kids were BBM-ing their parents, I was literally waiting by the mailbox to get a letter from home to see how the weekend had gone, which was a little frustrating when Grandma was in the hospital, but I was just looking for some sort of scribble, some unkempt cursive from my mother.
And so when I moved to New York City after college and got completely sucker-punched in the face by depression, I did the only thing I could think of at the time. I wrote those same kinds of letters that my mother had written me for strangers, and tucked them all throughout the city, dozens and dozens of them. I left them everywhere, in cafes and in libraries, at the U.N., everywhere. I blogged about those letters and the days when they were necessary, and I posed a kind of crazy promise to the Internet: that if you asked me for a hand-written letter, I would write you one, no questions asked. Overnight, my inbox morphed into this harbor of heartbreak -- a single mother in Sacramento, a girl being bullied in rural Kansas, all asking me, a 22-year-old girl who barely even knew her own coffee order, to write them a love letter and give them a reason to wait by the mailbox.
Well, today I fuel a global organization that is fueled by those trips to the mailbox, fueled by the ways in which we can harness social media like never before to write and mail strangers letters when they need them most, but most of all, fueled by crates of mail like this one, my trusty mail crate, filled with the scriptings of ordinary people, strangers writing letters to other strangers not because they're ever going to meet and laugh over a cup of coffee, but because they have found one another by way of letter-writing.
But, you know, the thing that always gets me about these letters is that most of them have been written by people that have never known themselves loved on a piece of paper. They could not tell you about the ink of their own love letters. They're the ones from my generation, the ones of us that have grown up into a world where everything is paperless, and where some of our best conversations have happened upon a screen. We have learned to diary our pain onto Facebook, and we speak swiftly in 140 characters or less.
But what if it's not about efficiency this time? I was on the subway yesterday with this mail crate, which is a conversation starter, let me tell you. If you ever need one, just carry one of these. (Laughter) And a man just stared at me, and he was like, "Well, why don't you use the Internet?" And I thought, "Well, sir, I am not a strategist, nor am I specialist. I am merely a storyteller." And so I could tell you about a woman whose husband has just come home from Afghanistan, and she is having a hard time unearthing this thing called conversation, and so she tucks love letters throughout the house as a way to say, "Come back to me. Find me when you can." Or a girl who decides that she is going to leave love letters around her campus in Dubuque, Iowa, only to find her efforts ripple-effected the next day when she walks out onto the quad and finds love letters hanging from the trees, tucked in the bushes and the benches. Or the man who decides that he is going to take his life, uses Facebook as a way to say goodbye to friends and family. Well, tonight he sleeps safely with a stack of letters just like this one tucked beneath his pillow, scripted by strangers who were there for him when.
These are the kinds of stories that convinced me that letter-writing will never again need to flip back her hair and talk about efficiency, because she is an art form now, all the parts of her, the signing, the scripting, the mailing, the doodles in the margins. The mere fact that somebody would even just sit down, pull out a piece of paper and think about someone the whole way through, with an intention that is so much harder to unearth when the browser is up and the iPhone is pinging and we've got six conversations rolling in at once, that is an art form that does not fall down to the Goliath of "get faster," no matter how many social networks we might join. We still clutch close these letters to our chest, to the words that speak louder than loud, when we turn pages into palettes to say the things that we have needed to say, the words that we have needed to write, to sisters and brothers and even to strangers, for far too long. Thank you. (Applause) (Applause)
The East and the West, Let’s enjoy the combination of the two cultures?
Kipling said:“East is east, and west is west, and never the twain shall meet!” But now, a century later, they have met.
They have met in business. They have met in education. They have met in the arts. Some people will argue that these meetings will leave us with a choice between east and west, but I believe that the best future lies in the creative combination of both worlds. We can make western ideas, customs and technology our own, and adapt them to our own use. We can enjoy the best of both worlds, because our tradition is, above all, one of selecting the best and making it our own.
I love Beijing and Hennan opera because it always reminds me of who I am. But I am also a fan of pop music, especially English songs. So I have combined eastern melody with western language. It is called western henna opera.
When two cultures meet, there may be things in one culture, which do not fit into the tradition of the other. When this happens, we need to learn to understand and respect the customs of another culture. Then there are certain things some people may not like. To this, I will say, if you do not like it, please try to tolerate it. To learn to tolerate what you personally don’t like is a great virtue at a time when different cultures mix and merge. Before us, there are two rivers, eastern and western cultures. At present, they may run in different courses. But eventually, they will converge into the vast sea of human culture.
Right now, I can see peoples of eastern and western cultures, standing side by side, singing the Olympic theme song: we are hand in hand, heart to heart, together we will shape a beautiful tomorrow! Thank you!
